Vice-Chair J. Murray Awarded Golden Jubilee Medal
On December 20, 2002 Mr. James Murray, Vice-Chair of the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board, was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Golden Jubilee Medal of Queen Elizabeth II was struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty's reign as Queen of Canada. It is being awarded to citizens who, over the past 50 years, have helped create the Canada of today, or those younger Canadians who are actively contributing to our country's future. Potential candidates were nominated by the federal government, based on advice from community organizations, among others.
Mr. Murray is a very worthwhile recipient of the Golden Jubilee Medal. An active community member, he is currently Chair of the Mississauga Mayor's Gala for the Arts, sits on the Board of Governors of Credit Valley Hospital and is a Life Member of the Association of Kinsmen Clubs. In the past he has served on the Board of Directors of Mississauga's Living Arts Centre, was a member of the Board of the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards, and a founding member of the Peel Regional Housing Authority.
The Chair and Members of the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board were extremely pleased to learn that Mr. Murray's contribution to his country was being acknowledged by the Queen and the federal government, and offer their sincere congratulations.
