Prestigious New Police Facility Named in Honour of Chair Kolb
The grand opening and dedication of the Emil V. Kolb Centre for Police Excellence was held Wednesday May 5th at the new Peel Regional Police facility at 180 Derry Road in Mississauga.
In honour of Emil's vision and hard work as chair of the Peel Regional Police Services Board for the past 10 years, chief of Peel Regional Police, Noel Catney and many other distinguished guests including Emil's family, were present to unveil the dedication of the first-class facility to our Regional Chair, Emil V. Kolb
In collaboration with other members of the Police board, the Peel Regional Police and Regional staff, Emil has worked hard to make the facility a reality. On time and under budget, the Emil V. Kolb Centre for Police Excellence houses Operations Support services, Field Support services, Staff services and Victim services with 33 bureaux and a total of 349 personnel. It has a 90 seat amphitheatre style lecture hall with internet access and child abuse and sexual assault bureaus containing two waiting rooms, playrooms and three "soft" interview rooms for victims, bringing the art of police training and operations to a whole new level.
"I know that somewhere my parents are looking down with pride because they raised their kids to try their best to leave their community better than they found it; and that continues to be a simple goal that drives me," says Emil.
Many distinguished guests such as former ministers, former board members and representatives of both the deputy Prime Minister and Premier of Ontario were present to congratulate Peel Regional Police, the Peel Police Services Board and Regional Council for creating a facility that will provide the citizens of Peel a safer community.
