Peel Regional Police - Murray Back on Board

BRAMPTON, ON, May 12 /CNW/ - Mr. J. Murray, a former Vice-Chair and member of the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board, has been re-appointed to the Board following a one-year absence.

Mr. Murray, who served on the Board from July 1997 to June 2003 was appointed to the Board effective April 21, 2004 , replacing Mr. Rollie Willis of Streetsville, whose term expired on April 2, 2004.

"I am gratified to have the opportunity to again serve on the Board, and by doing so, serve the members of the Peel Regional Police and the community-at-large," says Mr. Murray.

Mr. Murray, a lifelong resident of Mississauga , is recognized as being one of the premier 'volunteers' in the City. He currently sits on the Boards of Sheridan College, Peel Children's Aid Society and Credit Valley Hospital.

The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is the civilian governance body for the Peel Regional Police. It is comprised of seven members, three members of Regional Council, three provincial appointees, and a citizen representative appointed by Council. The current membership of the Board comprises Mr. Emil Kolb, Chair of the Board who is also Regional Chairman for the Region of Peel, Councillor Gael Miles, Vice-Chair, Councillor Carmen Corbasson, Mr. Ralph Hunter and Mr. Jim Murray. There is one vacancy.

The Peel Regional Police is the second largest municipal police service in Canada . It provides police services to the cities of Brampton and Mississauga, and under contract, to Pearson International Airport.
