Peel Regional Police - Arrest made in Sexual Assault Investigation

Mississauga, ON, Feb. 24 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at approximately 11:00 a.m., investigators from the Peel Regional Police Task Force arrested a male party, in the area of Dixie Road and Bloor Street, in relation to a sexual assault.

Charged with one count of Sexual Assault is a 16 year-old male from Mississauga, who can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He appeared in court on Thursday, February 24, 2005, at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Brampton, at which time he was remanded into custody for a Bail Hearing, to be held on Friday, February 25, 2005.

Several reported sexual assaults that had occurred in and around the area immediately adjacent to the Dixie Road and Bloor Street area of Mississauga, between November 2004 and January 2005, are still being intensely investigated by members of the Task Force.

The Community Safety Alert that was issued on February 2, 2005, remains in effect and police encourage all citizens to maintain vigilance and practice personal safety.
