Peel Regional Police 2004 United Way Campaign
The Peel Regional Police United Way Campaign Committee attended the Regional Mu nicipality of Peel Police Services Board meeting on April 29 th, 2005 to report on the outcome of the 2004 Peel Regional Police Employee United Way campaign.
The Committee, comprised of Inspector Paul Thorne, Constable Shannon Stanley, Ms. Muna Mark and Ms. Heather Woodburn, were pleased to report that donations totalling $86,670 were raised. This amount exceeds the 2003 total by $10,788.
In addition to donations from employees, two special events were organized, which raised a total of $1,313. The first of these events was a 10 km run challenge which was issued to Recruit Class 4-04 by Inspector Wollaston. Inspector Wollaston donated $5 for each recruit who beat his time in the run, but collected a $10 donation from each recruit who was unable to beat his time. All funds collected were donated to the United Way campaign. The second event was a charity basketball game between the Peel Regional Police Men’s basketball team and the Rick Hansen Secondary School Senior Basketball team. The student body raised funds for the game, and donated $500 to the Peel Regional Police United Way Campaign.
The Board commended Inspector Thorne, Constable Shannon, Ms. Mark and Ms. Woodburn for their hard work and the outstanding results achieved for this worthy cause.
