Peel Police - Police Services Board Chair and Vice-Chair Re-elected

(BRAMPTON)– The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board expressed its support in its leadership when it re-elected Emil Kolb, Regional Chairman of Peel, as Chair of the Board at its meeting of January 22, 2010. Also re-elected was Mr. Jim Murray as Vice-Chair, the second longest tenured member of the Board.

“The entire Region is very fortunate to have such a committed and dedicated group as the members of the Peel Police Services Board,” says Mr. Kolb. “The Board members collectively provide strong, consistent leadership that enhances the delivery of police services at both a community and Regional level.”

Mr. Kolb says the Board works well with Chief M. Metcalf and his Executive Command. He says after consultation with the police executive, a key focus for the coming year will be for the police service to meet the strategic goals established by the Board while assisting with major international events such as the Olympics and the G8 and G20 summits in Ontario.

Mr. Murray, a Mississauga businessman recognized throughout the Region for his volunteer activities and community involvement, is entering his 12th year as a member of the Board.

“I believe despite the many challenges that our Board and the police service will have in 2010 we are better positioned then ever to deliver a high, professional standard of service to our community,” says Mr. Murray. “The enthusiasm of our members is noticeable and contagious. It’s an honour to work with them in building the safest environment we can in this Region.”

The Board consists of seven members. Mr. Kolb is an appointee of the Regional Council of Peel as is Councillor Frank Dale from Mississauga and Mayor of Brampton, Susan Fennell. The provincial appointees are Mr. Murray, Ms. Cheryl Jamieson and Mr. Sat Gosal. The remaining member of the Board is a member of the public appointed by Regional Council. Ms. Preet Kang has served in this role for seven years.
