New Member Joins Police Services Board
(BRAMPTON) – Mr. Jack Prazeres is the newest member of the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board. A long-time Mississauga resident, Mr. Prazeres was appointed by the provincial government effective June 22, 2016, for a two-year term, and became official when Mr. Prazeres was sworn in on July 4, 2016, replacing Mr. Laurie Williamson who had concluded a six-year term.
"I'm very pleased to welcome Mr. Prazeres to the Board," says Mr. Ahluwalia, Chair of the Board. "He brings extensive experience in the private sector to his new responsibilities. He also brings great enthusiasm and an exemplary record of community service to our Region. I am confident that Mr. Prazeres will be of invaluable assistance to the Board and the police service."
Mr. Prazeres says, "It's an honour to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity. I am eager to contribute to the Board and to the work of the Peel Regional Police in delivering a high standard of service to our community. I know it is a challenging time to come on board, and I look forward with great interest to the issues before us, and in the well-being of the Peel community."
The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is the governing body for the Peel Regional Police which provides police services to the cities of Brampton and Mississauga, and under contract, to Pearson International Airport. It is the second largest municipal police service in Ontario.
The Board is comprised of seven members. Mr. Frank Dale, Regional Chair, Mayor Bonnie Crombie and Mayor Linda Jeffrey are appointed by Regional Council. The three provincial appointees are Mr. Amrik Ahluwalia, Chair, Mr. John Rogers, Vice-Chair and Mr. Jack Prazeres. The citizen appointee from Regional Council is Ms. Norma Nicholson
