Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College
Chief Noel Catney and Dr. Robert Turner, President and CEO of Sheridan College, signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Regional Mu nic ipality of Peel Police Services Board meeting on April 29, 2005 . The Memorandum of Understanding formalizes a partnership and strong working relationship that is already in existence between Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College .
Highlights of the Memorandum of Agreement are:
- Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will encourage their members to share expertise and research with each other through discussions and collaborative learning initiatives
- Peel Regional Police will provide internship opportunities to students enrolled in the Sheridan College Police Foundations Program
- Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will develop and adjudicate a yearly community policing competition for students enrolled in the Police Foundations Program, with students from other Ontario colleges being invited to participate in the competition
- Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will work together to develop education and training opportunities for members of Peel Regional Police
- Sheridan College will participate in “Campus Crime Stoppers” in conjunction with “Peel Crime Stoppers”
Peel Regional Police are committed to working with partners within the community, and look forward to the mutually beneficial results to be gained through the ongoing partnership with Sheridan College.
