Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College

Chief Noel Catney and Dr. Robert Turner, President and CEO of Sheridan College, signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Regional Mu nic ipality of Peel Police Services Board meeting on April 29, 2005 . The Memorandum of Understanding formalizes a partnership and strong working relationship that is already in existence between Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College .

Highlights of the Memorandum of Agreement are:

• Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will encourage their members to share expertise and research with each other through discussions and collaborative learning initiatives
• Peel Regional Police will provide internship opportunities to students enrolled in the Sheridan College Police Foundations Program
• Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will develop and adjudicate a yearly community policing competition for students enrolled in the Police Foundations Program, with students from other Ontario colleges being invited to participate in the competition
• Peel Regional Police and Sheridan College will work together to develop education and training opportunities for members of Peel Regional Police
• Sheridan College will participate in “Campus Crime Stoppers” in conjunction with “Peel Crime Stoppers”
