Deputy Chief Brian Adams Announces Retirement
Brampton, ON– After 36 years of dedicated service to Peel Regional Police and the residents of Peel Region, Deputy Chief of Police Brian Adams has informed Chief Evans and the Board that he will retire from the service.
Deputy Chief Adams was appointed by the Board in 2012, and has had an extremely successful and rewarding career. He is a well-respected police leader not only in Peel but provincially and nationally. Over the course of his career he was an exceptional criminal investigator and, as he rose through the ranks, he honed his skills in Incident Command. He was the incident Commander for the Peel Regional Police during the G8/20 in 2010 as a Superintendent. As Deputy Chief he represented Peel Regional Police well at the Joint Executive Management Group meetings for the Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario (CISO), is a member of the Organized Crime Committee for the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and, most recently, was the Executive Lead when Peel Regional Police hosted the 2017 summer games for Special Olympics.
“It was a childhood dream for me to become a police officer. For the past 36 years I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to live out that dream as a member of the Peel Regional Police,” said Deputy Chief Adams. “It has been an honour and privilege to work with the men and women of this great organization.”
Speaking on behalf of his Board colleagues, Chair Amrik Singh Ahluwalia expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Deputy Chief Adams for his many years of service to the community. “Deputy Chief Adams has had a long and successful career. He should be as proud of his career as the Board is for having had the pleasure to work so closely with an officer whose energetic commitment to the community was always his first priority. On behalf of the Board, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for Deputy Adams’ invaluable contribution to policing, and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
“Deputy Chief Adams has been very committed to community safety and policing excellence,” said Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans. “His exceptional commitment to our officers and our community has made us stronger as a police service and safer as a community. I wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement. “
Chair Ahluwalia said the Board will begin the process to hire a new Deputy Chief of Police and ensure its decision is communicated to the community as quickly as possible.
Peel Regional Police (PRP) is the third largest municipal police service in Canada with over 2,000 uniform and over 800 civilian members with a policing population of over 1.4 million.
