Community Representative Appointed to Police Services Board

(BRAMPTON) – Ms. Preet Kang, a Peel resident from the Town of Caledon, has been appointed by the Regional Council of Peel as the community representative to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board. The appointment took effect May 14, 2004, at which time Ms. Kang replaced Ms. Savita Junnarkar, who had completed six years as the very first community representative to the Board.

“I am very pleased to have been selected to serve on the Board,” says Ms. Kang. “Policing is one of the most visible, and respected, public services. I know the Peel Regional Police is held in high esteem by our community, and I look forward to adding my efforts to that of my Board colleagues in continuing a long record of achievement and professionalism.”

Mr. Emil Kolb, Chair of the Board, says, “We welcome Ms. Kang, and look forward to her contribution. She is following in some very big footsteps, as Ms. Savita Junnarkar was an outstanding member of the Board, and an exemplary community representative. We thank her for her contribution.”

Ms. Preet Kang has resided in the Region of Peel for over a decade. She holds a number of degrees, including a Master of Business Administration and is multilingual, speaking five languages. She has extensive volunteer experience, including being a current serving member of the Caledon Public Library Board and as a director for the Valleywood Residents Association.

The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is the civilian governing authority for the Peel Regional Police. It is comprised of seven members, the Regional Chairman, two Regional Councillors, three members appointed by the provincial government, and a community representative appointed by Regional Council.
