Civil Suit Dismissed

(BRAMPTON) – The Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued an order on February 11, 2008, dismissing the civil suit filed on October 18, 2007 by an Inspector with the Peel Regional Police against the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board, Chief M. Metcalf and two senior officers.

“The Board said from the outset that the allegations contained in the civil suit were without merit or foundation,” said Emil Kolb, Chair, Police Services Board. “The dismissal order effectively concludes the matter.”

“The Board continues to have full confidence in Chief Metcalf and his senior management team,” added Kolb. “The Board remains deeply disturbed that individuals can use the civil process to make false statements which have the potential to cause damage to the reputations of all dedicated members of the police service and to the organization itself.”
