Board Leadership Re-Elected
( BRAMPTON )– Emil Kolb, Chairman of the Region of Peel, was re-elected for the 11th straight year as Chair of the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board. Joining him as Vice-Chair is Councillor Carmen Corbasson, who was re-elected for the second year. The elections were held on January 27, 2006, at the first meeting of the Board for 2006.
“It is an honour to serve as Chair,” says Mr. Kolb. “I’m particularly excited as we commence 2006 with our new chief, Michael Metcalf. This is a wonderful organization, and Chief Metcalf will only make it better and more effective in meeting our common goal of a safer and more secure community.”
Councillor Corbasson says, “I join Chair Kolb in saying it is an honour to serve, and to work with such a dedicated group as this Board, and the leadership of the police service. I am very excited about what we can collectively accomplish over the next 12 months.”
The Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board is comprised of seven members, three appointed from Regional Council, one private citizen appointed by Regional Council, and three provincial appointees. It is the civilian governing authority for the Peel Regional Police, Ontario’s second largest municipal police service, comprised of (1,718) uniform and (685) civilian members.
