Arrest Made in String of Sexual Assaults in Mississauga

Mississauga - Peel Regional Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault investigators have arrested and charged a 20 year old Mississauga man, in relation to a string of alleged sexual assaults on females ranging in the age of 10 years old to 53 years old. The assaults occurred in the Mississauga area between September 2004 and April 2005.
On Friday, April 15th, 2005, a male party was observed by staff members in the stairwell of an elementary school on Havenwood Drive in Mississauga. Staff members approached the suspicious male who then fled the school. Police were notified and quickly converged on the area and subsequently arrested the individual. An extensive investigation into this individual was conducted by members of the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Task Force which resulted in the laying of 31 counts of sexual related offences.
Peel Regional Police are committed to working with partners within the community, and look forward to the mutually beneficial results to be gained through the ongoing partnership with Sheridan College.
Hernan AGUIRRE, 20 years old, from Havenwood Drive, Mississauga has been charged with Sexual Assault (15 counts), Sexual Interference (2 counts), Forcible Confinement (8 counts), Wear a Disguise (5 counts) and Threaten Death (1 count). AGUIRRE appeared for a bail hearing on Saturday, April 16th, 2005, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton and was remanded in custody until Monday, April 18th, 2005.

A Community Safety Alert that was issued on February 2nd, 2005, for all citizens of Mississauga, especially those living in the area of Bloor Street and Dixie Road area has been cancelled.
