BRAMPTON, ON, Dec. 14 /CNW/ - An agreement that secures Chief Noel Catney's leadership of the Peel Regional Police was announced today by Emil Kolb, Chair, Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board.
Mr. Kolb stated the Board and Chief Catney have agreed to a renewed contract that extends until August 2005.
"I am immensely pleased that Chief Catney will remain as our Chief of Police," stated Mr. Kolb. "I'm pleased as Chairman of the Region of Peel, also as Chair of the police Services Board, and perhaps most importantly, as a member of our community. During these difficult times, we need an experienced, dedicated and visionary leader. With Chief Catney, we have one of the foremost police leaders in Canada. He is committed to this community, and he has our unswerving and continued support."
"The last 4 1/2 years undoubtedly reflect the most challenging and gratifying period of my police career," stated Chief Catney. "Public record reflects that in 1997, I committed the administration of this wonderful organization to our front line officers and police support staff. I reiterate that position today. Through our collaborative efforts, the Region of Peel is now, unquestionably, one of the safest communities in Canada. Our citizens are most fortunate to have the finest police officers and support staff providing them and their loved ones the ultimate level of security and protection that exists in this country today. I am truly honoured to continue to serve as Chief of Police to our service and community at large. I want to personally extend my sincere gratitude to all of our community leaders and organizations that in a tangible and supportive manner have assisted me."
