Acting Deputy Chief Dale Mumby Announces Retirement

Brampton, ON– After a career of dedicated service to Peel Regional Police and the residents of Peel Region, Acting Deputy Chief of Police Dale Mumby has informed Chief Duraiappah and the Board that he will retire from the service effective April 3, 2020.

Acting Deputy Chief Mumby began his policing career in 1988 with Peel Regional Police as a Constable. During his career, Acting Deputy Chief Mumby spent time in units and areas such as Uniform Patrol, Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau, Commercial Auto Crime Bureau, Communications Bureau, Street Crime Gang Unit, Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau, Fraud Bureau, Duty Inspectors' Office, Emergency Support Services, and most recently during his time as the Executive Officer to the Chief of Police.

Acting Deputy Chief Mumby was promoted to Sergeant in 2002, Staff Sergeant in 2006, Inspector in 2013 and Superintendent in November 2014 when he became the Executive Officer to the Chief of Police. Acting Deputy Chief Mumby’s contributions to Peel Regional Police have been numerous and his dedication to the community has been evident over the years and many ranks.

“I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to spend my entire career as a member of the Peel Regional Police,” said Acting Deputy Chief Mumby. “It has been a tremendous honour to work with the members of this great organization on behalf of the Peel community.”

Peel Police Services Board Chair Ron Chatha expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Acting Deputy Chief Mumby for his many years of service to the community. “On behalf of my colleagues on the Police Services Board, I want to thank Acting Chief Mumby for his contributions to the work of Peel Regional Police. His career with the police service and his connection to the community will be missed. The Board wishes Acting Deputy Chief Mumby a long, healthy and happy retirement.”

Peel Regional Police (PRP) is the fourth largest municipal police service in Canada with over 2,000 uniform and over 800 civilian members with a policing population of over 1.4 million.
