Carolyn Parrish was sworn in as a Peel Police Service Board member on July 11, 2024.

Carolyn Parrish, BA, B.Ed, is a dedicated Canadian politician with extensive experience at both municipal and federal levels. Known for her straightforward style and commitment to advocating for the underrepresented, Carolyn has utilized her deep understanding of government and international affairs to influence policy locally, nationally, and internationally. She is a passionate advocate for democratic renewal in the developing world, having traveled extensively to monitor elections, lead fact-finding missions, and represent national and international parliamentary associations.

Carolyn’s political journey includes serving as the Mayor of Mississauga since June 2024 and holding various roles as a Councillor for the City of Mississauga and the Region of Peel. Her federal experience includes serving as a Member of Parliament, first with the Liberal Party from 1993 to 2004 and later as an Independent from 2004 to 2006. She has also held significant parliamentary functions, such as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration and the Minister of Public Works and Government Services. Before her political career, Carolyn was a secondary school teacher, and she holds degrees from the University of Toronto.
