Alan Boughton, Provincial Appointee

Mr. Alan Boughton was first appointed to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Service Board in May 2019 and reappointed in 2022 for three more years.  Al is the Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Bargaining Committee and a member of the Human Resources Committee with Peel Police Service Board.  In addition to this, Al serves as a Director on the Ontario Association of Police Service Board and the Ontario Police Arbitration and Adjudication Commission.

Al is an industry leader with over 50 years of experience.  He co-founded Trailcon Leasing and served as President for 30 years.  Prior to his retirement in 2022, Trailcon saw tremendous success under his leadership: celebrating continuous growth every year from a start up in 1992 to a fleet to over 11,000 trailers, establishing seven locations from Cornwall to Vancouver and $100 million in annual revenue. In addition to Trailcon’s 11,000 trailer fleet the company provided fleet management services to 20,000 trailers for Canadian companies from coast to coast including Walmart, Loblaws, Home Depot, Canada Cartage, Canadian Tire, TransForce and many more.

Al remains connected with many industry and business organizations as he served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Allied Trades Division of the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) over the past 50 years.  He was also a member of the Mississauga Board of Trade’s Transportation and Airport Committees for over 15 years.  In addition to this, Al was a founding member of the Private Motor Truck Council and a longstanding member of the Toronto Trucking Association, the Toronto Transportation Club, the Canadian Trucking Alliance and the Intermodal Association of North America.

In November 2012, Al was awarded the prestigious Shaw Tracking – OTA Service to the Industry Award, representing the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a member of the trucking industry and this was also the first time the award was presented to an Allied Trades member of the OTA.

Al is a regular supporter of several local charities, including Victim Services of Peel, Trillium Hospital, and the Canadian Cancer Society among others.  In his free time, he is a classic car enthusiast and a restorer of classic automobiles.  Al and his wife, Wendy enjoy travelling as well as staying in at their country home in Caledon.  Al is proudly the father of 2 girls, Stacey and Sarah, and a grandfather to 4.
